The Coffs Harbour Yacht Club is resuming Junior Sailing. Sailing is a fun outdoor sport for the whole family and we have a very friendly club environment.
Dinghy sailing is a safe activity in which Juniors can develop useful skills such as: decision making; leadership; self responsibility; teamwork and race tactics with social interaction and bonding while enjoying the natural environment in our beautiful harbour.
Junior sailing will occur every Sunday from 11th October throughout summer of 2009, starting at 9.45am (weather permitting).
Sailing at Coffs Harbour Yacht Club is an inexpensive means of starting the great sport of sailing. The CHYC has a number of dinghies available for Junior Sailors. Family membership costs a total of $230 per annum for the first child. This provides Full Active Sailing Membership for one parent/guardian, Junior Membership for the Junior Sailor and a Social Membership for the other parent/guardian. Each additional child will cost only an additional $35 per annum. Membership includes use of our Club dinghies during sailing days, safety gear such as life jackets (personal floatation devices), full use of the Club facilities and silver membership to Yachting Australia.
Each family also contributes $5 per week to help cover ongoing costs such as petrol for the rescue boat and for tea and coffee.
Non-members may try sailing on a Sunday and are required to make a $5 contribution that day.
Junior Sailing is a family activity and parents are expected to accompany the children and be present while the junior/s are participating in the Club activities.
Parental participation is vital for Junior Sailing to continue and flourish at Coffs Harbour.
